Region

Blessed with a Mediterranean climate and unique location, the Cederberg Mountains boast many plants that can be found nowhere else in the world.  These include the grey-leaved sugarbush, the Clanwilliam cedar tree, and of course, the Rooibos tea plant.  Among the wide variety of animals who claim this region as home are baboons, leopards, black eagles and the black spitting cobra.

In addition to the exotic plants and large variety of unique animals, the Cederberg Mountains are famous for their sandstone and shale rock formations, and feature rock art and cave paintings  8,000 years old.
